If you’ve moved past the texting phase and are thinking of taking it to either on the phone or a video call, don’t just call on impulse or out of anxiety or fear. Things done in fear and anxiety often don’t end well and have a tendency to create more anxiety and more fear.
Ask your ex if they are comfortable speaking on the phone or a video call. Set a mental time limit for the chat and give your ex a heads up ton how long you can chat. This way, if it’s awkward, it can help to avoid that dreaded dried up conversation. But more importantly, it prevents you from overstaying your welcome and risk coming across as needy.
